From Piacenza to Pontremoli in Toscane

Dear Friends,

Last Wednesday morning I returned from my hike in Italy. This episode I entered the Apennine mountain range and crossed the ‘Passo della Cisa‘ to the Toscane region.

I had a great time and met some great people on the way. I had a lot of opportunities to hand out our Hiker Online business cards and speak with people about our Hiking & Outdoors initiative. Thank you Luigi for your hospitality and kindness. Also a ‘thank you’ to Catina in Calestano. May the Lord bless your Camino to Jerusalem … ๐Ÿ˜‰

Unfortunately, I had to come back earlier than planned due to an injury in my left heel. My intention was to enter Toscane and finish this hike in Lucca but as always plans oftentimes don’t work out the way you would like. So instead I finished in Pontremoli this time.

I also had some issues with my Salomon Speedcross hiking shoes and felt blessed to find out that there was a Solomon Outlet store in Fidenza. I went there and was able to buy a new pair of Salomon Trail Runners, the XA PRO 3D GTX, for an affordable price.

Since I’ve started hiking from my hometown Amstelveen in The Netherlands, in 2018, I’ve only used two pair of XA PRO 3D GTX Trailrunners to reach Piacenza in Italy. You do the math … that’s a lot of miles on each pair of shoes.

Another piece of my gear that needed testing was my tent. I used the MSR Hubba NX 1-person tent for this trip and it fortunately suited all my needs.

Next month, God willing, I will be back in Italy again to continue hiking to the south. Aad will join me again and we are looking forward to meeting new friends. If you are in the area and would like to meet us let us know.

Blessings,

Walter
